Sarasota Fiction Writers 2009 Short Story Contest

The contest starts in June and the deadline is Oct. 7, the night of our club meeting. Winners will be announced in December at our Christmas Party. There will be trophies plus cash, first place receives $50, second place, $30, third place $20 and there is an honorable mention category. This is an in-house contest and all contestants must be paid club members. The stories word count is 2000 words or less, and this year’s theme is crime or sex, or both in any genre. The stories should have a cover sheet containing the title, author’s name, email &/or phone # and the word count, but the story pages must only contain the title and page numbers. (no author’s name).

We have two great judges, a mainstream author and an experienced editor, who are not club members, but have graciously volunteered. So…sharpen your pencils, turn on the computer spell check, and get busy. The club summer workshops will also be dedicated to helping you write a juicy, winning story.

Submission:  Participants can submit entries to Greg Cherniak, our President and contest coordinator at one of our monthly meetings. If you can not make a meeting prior to our deadline and wish to submit please mail mail your entry to:
